SEC media days ended on Thursday, with most people focusing on the additions of the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners. The Arkansas Razorbacks, Texas A&M Aggies, Auburn Tigers, and Kentucky Wildcats closed out the festivities in Dallas.

In a recent episode of Always College Football, Greg McElroy talked about another SEC team that should receive more attention. He believed the South Carolina Gamecocks are being "slept on" this season.

"The reality is that a lot of people look at the South Carolina Gamecocks, and they think about where they were problematic last year," McElroy said. "...What I would say is that in visiting with people who are very familiar with what South Carolina has, I think they're gonna be better than people realize. ...South Carolina is being slept on."

South Carolina finished 5-7 last season, the team's first losing record in the Shane Beamer era. Beamer led South Carolina to the Duke's Mayo Bowl in 2021 and the Gator Bowl in 2022.

The Gamecocks added some critical recruits from the 2024 class. Former five-star edge rusher Dylan Stewart and former four-star offensive tackle Josiah Thompson were two of the top recruits in their class, per the On3 Industry Rankings.

South Carolina has also added transfer commitments from players like former Charlotte 49ers linebacker Demetrius Knight Jr., former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets edge rusher Kyle Kennard, and former Arkansas Razorbacks running back Raheim "Rocket" Sanders.

Another player that McElroy mentioned was former four-star quarterback LaNorris Sellers. Sellers was a member of the 2023 class and was the No. 4 prospect out of South Carolina, per the On3 Industry Rankings .

However, Sellers is inexperienced as a starter in the SEC. He appeared in three games and did not see the field much with Spencer Rattler as the starter.

South Carolina opens the year against the Old Dominion Monarchs on Aug. 31.
