COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — A man was arrested after he allegedly threatened to kill the sheriff and Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office employees, according to MCSO.

The sheriff’s office says it received the threatening phone calls at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Investigators identified the suspect as wanted man, James Burditt.

Burditt was arrested at 8 p.m. According to MCSO, Burditt had a knife and did not “comply with the verbal commands of deputies” during the arrest.

The sheriff’s office says a Conducted Electrical Weapon was used to incapacitate Burditt. One common example of a CEW is a taser.

Burditt was taken into custody without further incident on these outstanding charges:

    • Felony Terroristic Threats (Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office)
    • Bench Warrant for Battery Family Violence (Harris County Sheriff’s Office)

Burditt was also charged with obstruction. MCSO says additional charges may be pending.
