POLK COUNTY—Officials are asking for the public to share any information on two females who illegally dumped a German Shepherd near Columbus On Wednesday.

In a social media post, Patti Lovelace with Polk County Animal Control said that the two women, driving an FJ Cruiser, came to Foothills Humane Society with the German Shepherd they said they picked up as a stray. The individuals shared several stories about where they found the dog.

Lovelace says the animal showed signs of aggression, and FHS would not take it. She added that she felt it was obvious that the animal belonged to the two females.

The women then allegedly dumped the dog on Golden Road near Columbus city limits, and as of the press time, Animal Control has not been able to locate it. The German Shepard was wearing a leather collar.

Lovelace asks anyone with information on the two individuals or the German Shepard to call Polk County Animal Control at (828) 817-7984.
