Crickets. That is the noise you’ll likely hear around the Woody Hayes Athletic Center today.

Ohio State just missed out on a four-star pass rusher that they have been heavily recruiting for some time now . The Buckeyes were not able to land EDGE Justin Hill, as he decided to pick the Alabama Crimson Tide and to leave the Buckeye state.

Hill was an in-state target who attends Winton Woods in Cincinnati. Hill was a major target of Larry Johnson and someone who could have ended up being in the JACK role for the defense. Hill will physically have to bulk up, as he is listed at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds.

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Hill is the No. 4 defensive end in the country and No. 58 player nationally. O hio State recently picked up a commitment from Zion Grady and would have had a very nice duo in Grady and Hill. Zahir Mathis is a verbal commitment as well for the Buckeyes.

Recently, defensive tackle Trajen Odom committed to the Buckeyes to join London Merritt as interior players committed. After missing out on Hill, the Buckeyes will have to turn their attention to bringing in another pass rusher this class. Hill took his official visit to Columbus at the end of May and spent June visiting Alabama, USC, and Oregon.

A big recruiting loss for the Buckeyes that allows one of the best high school football players in the state to leave. Ohio State still has 22 players verbally committed. The month of June was huge for the Buckeyes but July is starting off on a bad note.
