Ohio State defensive end Jack Sawyer could've chosen to turn pro after the 2023 college football season. Following his productive junior year in Columbus, he very well could've been a day-two pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Sawyer instead surprised fans by choosing to return to Ohio State for his senior season, and in January told 97.1 The Fan that failing to defeat 'The Team Up North' played a major role in what he dubbed an "easy" decision.

"For me, the decision was easy," Sawyer said. "It was about coming back, beating ‘The Team Up North,’ winning the Big Ten title and then winning the national championship."

On Tuesday, Sawyer was chosen as one of three Ohio State players to speak at Big Ten Media Days.

His comments, particularly on his feelings towards the Buckeyes' arch-rival, are turning heads in the college football world.

"All of our goals and aspirations for the season rides on that one game in November," Sawyer said. "They hate us, we hate them.

"That's how we want it to be."

The Buckeyes have dropped three straight games to Michigan after dominating the rivalry from 2004 to 2019.

Last season, the Wolverines once again out-matched the Buckeyes physically en route to a 30-24 win in Ann Arbor.

Two turnovers from former OSU quarterback Kyle McCord certainly didn't help the cause, either.
