Lundquist Lawsuit Against Charles City School Board Headed for Trial
The lawsuit filed by former Superintendent Anne Lundquist against all five members of the Charles City School Board appears headed for trial. In April, Lundquist was placed on administrative leave while, according to School Board President David Schrodt, the district investigated allegations that raised “questions about Dr. Lundquist’s fitness for duty and ability to serve as an employee of the Charles City Community School District.”

Familiar faces makeup a foursome of entertainment for the next Party in the Park (PIP) in Charles City. Area residents and former Endless Summer band members, Gene Parson, Med Lewis, Bruce Carr and Gary Parson, will take the stage with their new group, “Endless Edition,” at the rescheduled PIP event on Friday (07.26) night in Central Park. “Endless Edition” includes members of the Iowa Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as well as Midwest All-Musician Association Hall of Fame, playing the best of 1960-80s rock & roll and country music.

Charles City to Join North Central Conference After All
Charles City will be joining the North Central Conference (NCC) after all. The decision comes following a mediation process facilitated by the Iowa Department of Education, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. A transition plan was then developed by the executive board of the NCC to integrate Charles City into the conference, starting with the 2025-26 school year.
Iowa’s First Security Bank donates to military memorial, depot restoration
Charles City, Iowa-based First Security Bank recently donated $5,000 to The Dumont (Iowa) Legion Post 360 to build a military memorial. The ground level of the memorial will include the names of current and deceased members of the legion, as well as the names of Dumont-area veterans. The center is also expected to serve as an educational center about the U.S. military; mission statements from each branch will be shown to visitors.
