In the ongoing battle against sweltering summer temperatures in Los Angeles, a beam of relief has shone brightly upon the senior citizens of Watts. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), together with the Department of Aging and KBLA Talk 1580 radio station, orchestrated the "Cool LA Heat Relief for Seniors" event at the Watts Labor Community Action Center, as reported by NBC Los Angeles. The community initiative garnered attention on Monday as several cooling units found their way into the homes of the elderly, at no charge to the recipients.

Metro Art and KCRW have announced its collaboration event for two select nights of music from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, and July 27 in the heart of Downtown LA at the historic Union Station. KCRW DJs Chris Douridas and Jeremy Sole are set to perform for the first installment of Summer Nights at Union Station, with performances at the second event by The South Hill Experiment, a sibling-led LA-based jazz-folk band, and DJs SiLVA and Raul Campos.
