Additionally, the event marks the reopening of the Arts Center's closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the three years that followed, and the facility's construction. The Center, its Teaching Artists, students, families, and visitors alike, create a unique environment that marries new experiences to this creative community's history.

California 'smash and grab' burglars arrested after string of gun store robberies
Federal authorities Tuesday announced the arrest of six men on suspicion of a nine-month-long smash-and-grab burglary spree targeting gun stores across Southern California. Starting in October 2023, the men — four teenagers and two in their early 20s — are accused of stealing vehicles and then ramming those vehicles into gun stores where they would ransack display cases. The federal indictment alleges that the scheme used other stolen cars as getaway vehicles.

Residents of West Hollywood will soon see a “Flying Lion” soaring overhead—not a mythological creature, but a drone designed to support public safety. At Monday night’s meeting, the West Hollywood City Council voted 3-2 to approve a one-year pilot program for the use of surveillance technology to enhance public safety, including fixed real-time cameras, a real-time watch center, and a drone as a first responder. The program costs $750,000, one of the largest single investments that the city has made in new equipment for public safety, according to Mayor John Erickson and City Manager David Wilson.
