FRISCO — Four Texas A&M University-Commerce student-athletes were named to the Southland Conference Track & Field All-Academic teams.
On the men's side, Tahje Parrish and Philip Krenek were honored, while Jenneil Jacobie and Cassandra Rendon were the honorees on the women's side.
The All-Academic teams are voted on by head coaches, sports information directors and academic and compliance staff members from each Southland Conference institution. Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution to qualify for All-Academic selection, and have competed in at least 50 percent of their team's meets. Fifty percent of those nominated earn the honor. All first team all-conference honorees earn automatic qualification.
Parrish is a dean's list recipient, while placing eighth in the triple jump at the outdoor SLC Championships. He recorded an 11th place finish in the outdoor long jump, fifth in the indoor triple jump, and 15th in the indoor long jump at the conference championships this year. Krenek was part of the SLC-winning 4x400 meter relay team at the outdoor championships, while individually placing fifth in the 400 meter dash finals and was named to the dean's list as well. He is also a sport & recreation management major.
Jacobie is this year's outdoor high jump champion. She set a new meet record, school record, and a top five mark in the region with her performance at the SLC Championships. Jacobie is a biological sciences major and is a dean's list honoree.
