She was Caitlin Clark 74 years ago. Now, Dot Burrow is a Hall of Famer
BOSTON — In Mississippi, Dot Ford Burrow was Caitlin Clark a half century before Caitlin Clark was born, scoring 50 points per game back in 1950 for tiny Smithville High School in Monroe County. High Points of the Valley
* Participants in this year’s Sour Mash Golf Tournament didn’t let high temperatures stop them from enjoying the day as they raised funds for the United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley and the Holmes R. “Butch” Shaver Memorial Fund administered by the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation. PGA Tour Professional Derek Lamely certainly enjoyed the event, saying of his decision to participate, “It was like a no-brainer. If invited back (next year), I’ll be here.” A range of sponsors, including platinum sponsors Richard and Liza Adams, Goodwill Industries of the Kanawha Valley and Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal, helped make the event happen. That’s a big help, because as United Way Executive Director Stacy Decicco pointed out, “Costs have gone up.” Thank you then, to all the sponsors and participants who helped make this wonderful tradition another great day in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

Eight-run first fuels Southern Ohio in dominant victory over Michigan

While finding out that’s not exactly true on Friday, Southern Ohio went back to that playbook on Saturday and found just a bit more success. Scoring an absurd eight runs in the first inning alone, Southern Ohio jumped ahead early and eventually ran away with a 13-7 win over Michigan on Saturday evening to even up the weekend series. The Copperheads needed just 11...
Copperheads fall to Michigan in damp day at the park
The quickly raging thunderstorm that surged through Athens on Sunday evening might’ve been an ominous sign of the entire weekend for Southern Ohio. Finishing up a series with Michigan (13-17) at home and having to deal with a weather delay just after the start of the game, the Copperheads (13-20) ultimately fell 4-3 late into Sunday night to lose the series with the final weeks of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League coming to a close. ...
