    CUHSD Alternative Education celebrate graduation

    Corning Union High School District’s Alternative Education program, which includes Centennial High School and Independent Study, celebrated the graduation of 49 seniors on June 6 during a Graduation Ceremony at Corning Union High School.

    Expressing happiness in the graduates’ success, student speakers Emily Diaz, Miriam Espino and Carmen Mendoza talked about the challenges associated with making it through high school and encouraged their fellow classmates to continue in that success wherever life took them.

    Corning Union High School District Superintendent Jared Caylor certified the class, followed by CUHSD Director of Alternative Education Audri Bakke presenting the class as CUHSD Board members Tony Turri and Larry Glover presented diplomas.

    Diaz, who served as the event’s master of ceremonies, was recognized as Centennial’s Student of the Year and Angelina Velazquez as receiving the Soroptimist Award.

    Honored as receiving Student of the Month awards during the 2023/24 school year was Jennifer Cervantes Echeverria, Elijah Crawford, Joshua Day, Emily Diaz, Ulises Espinoza Ruiz, Miriam Espino, Jose Guerrero, Bryan Hernandez Lezama, Becker Laredo, Adriana McGee, Damien Solorio, Anthony Vaca Orr, Benjamin Vaca Orr, Perla Vargas Mendoza and Pedro Villa Ontiveros.
