CORTLAND, Ill. (WTVO) — A Cortland man came home from a business trip to find his girlfriend with another man, according to police, and a gun went off as he was battering the victim with it.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Deangelo Flynn, 23, returned to an apartment in the 200 block of McMillan Court around 1:08 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Police said an “altercation” occurred between the two men that resulted in Flynn hitting the other man on the side of his head with a semi-automatic pistol, causing the gun to discharge a round into an exterior bedroom wall.

Flynn was charged with battery and reckless discharge of a firearm, and booked into the DeKalb County Jail.
