Minnesota National Guard’s 204th Medical Company Area Support Departs for Deployment Thursday Evening
(KNSI) — Over 50 Soldiers from the Minnesota National Guard’s 204th Medical Company Area Support (MCAS) are deploying to the Middle East today. The 204th MCAS delivers medical support, from basic first aid to advanced care, such as combat lifesavers with emergency medical technician level training, plus physicians and physician assistants. They conduct initial medical treatment such as first aid and lifesaving procedures provided to personnel immediately after an injury or illness and focus on either stabilizing them for evacuation or returning them to duty. The unit offers disease and nonbattle injury prevention, combat stress support to manage psychological impacts, and casualty collection and evacuation for further treatment. They support medical facilities utilizing more advanced services and include the evacuation of patients, initial resuscitation and emergency care, dental services, and laboratory and X-ray capabilities for diagnostic purposes.

Lakeland Drive remains closed after Wednesday derailment
(Willmar MN-) The railroad crossing at Lakeland Drive in Willmar is closed until Friday afternoon after a train derailment Wednesday night. Willmar Fire Chief Frank Hanson says just after 11 p.m. they and Willmar police were notified of a train derailment at Lakeland Drive. When they got there, fire crews found four train cars on their side and four others off the track and still upright. The cars contained a gas-ethanol mix. Fire crews along with the Kandiyohi County Hazardous Materials Emergency Assistance Team inspected the wreckage but found there was no fire and no leakage of the train car contents. The derailment had occurred just east of the Lakeland Drive intersection. After 2 hours, emergency crews turned the scene over to BNSF, which is in the process of removing the cars and cleaning up the scene, and they have not responded to requests for information. The rail crossing will be closed until late Friday afternoon, and motorists are asked to find alternate routes.
