Madison Primm, former softball standout for Falls Lake Academy, has made her mark as a freshman for the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears. Primm earned a spot on the South Athletic Conference All-Tournament team.

Primm helped the Bears win its first SAC Tournament Championship since 2013.

In the first game of the SAC Championship series, Primm had a two-hit, two-RBI outing against the second seed Anderson Trojans. Primm delivered a two-run home run in the top of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.

Primm had two multi-hit games in some of the most important contests of the tournament. In the win-or-go-home game against top seed Wingate, the third baseman had a three-RBI game with a solo home run in the first and a two-RBI single in the seventh.

The Bears defeated Wingate 9-8 to win the SAC conference tournament title.

Lenoir-Rhyne handed Anderson University back-to-back losses to win the SAC Championship. The win propelled the Bears into the National Collegiate Athletics Association Division II Southeast Regionals.

After topping Lander University  with a 10-2 score in six innings, the Bears played Wingate in a best-of-three series. The Bears bested the Bulldogs two out of three times with Primm hitting home runs in two games.

Lenoir-Rhyne faced North Georgia in the NCAA D II Super Regionals in Dahlonega, Georgia for a best-of-three series.

After dropping the first game, Primm delivered timely hits to lead the Bears to back-to-back wins to advance to the D II Championship.

The Bears opened the championship bracket with a 1-0 win over Auburn Montgomery. Primm had a key hit in this game.

After dropping a 1-0 decision to Indianapolis, the Bears played Wilmington University from Delaware. Lenoir-Rhyne won 6-4 in nine innings. Primm had a double in this contest.

Lenoir-Rhyne advanced to the semifinals against UT Tyler from Texas. The Patriots ended the Bears season with a 5-2 score, despite Primm hammering out a double.

Primm, who was unsure at one point during her junior season at Falls Lake, if she wanted to play college ball. She sat on the basketball sidelines nursing an ankle injury talking with fellow photographers. Primm an avid and excellent photographer could not decide if she wanted to just be a regular college student and take photos or if she wanted to put in the work to be a full time student-athlete.

It appears that she made the right choice to play softball. Not only did the freshman shine on the field, but she was named to the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll with a 3.944 grade point average in Management.

Primm started 51 games for the Bears and had 49 hits, which included 8 doubles and 15 home runs. She had 41 RBI in her first season.

The Bears will look to Primm to be a leader again next season.
