Ashe County man charged with nine child sex felonies: Sheriff

ASHE COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A man has been charged with nine felonies of child sex crimes, according to the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation with the NCSBI into illegal internet-based activity about child sexual exploitation ended on June 11.

Officials used search warrants in the Creston area, leading to the arrest of 40-year-old Carl Jefferson Abbott Jr.

Abbott Jr. was booked into the Ashe County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond for the charges of:

4 felony counts of 2nd-degree sexual exploitation of a minor
5 felony counts of 3rd-degree sexual exploitation of a minor
Resisting a public officer

Authorities say this is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information or potential victims related to this case should call the Detective Division at 336-846-5990.
