Nevada announces signing of David Morken
RENO, Nev. – The Nevada Ski Team announced the signing of Truckee native David Morken for the 2024-25 season. Morken is part of Team Palisades and has competed internationally both in North America and Europe. Most recently, he competed at Palisades from April 15-18, finishing sixth in Giant Slalom and 10th in Slalom.

It’s a sport for the casual recreator or the fierce competitor. Disc golf began its evolution in the seventies after Ed Headrick, nicknamed “Steady” Ed, designed the modern-day Frisbee. What started with Ed and his son challenging each other to throw Frisbees at random objects like trees, trash cans, signs—even open car windows—turned into the formal sport of Disc Golf with chain baskets. The sport is enjoyed by friends at over 7,000 courses around the world and competitively played in tournaments.
My Hometown Heroes teams up with Barracuda Championship for 2024 fundraiser
TRUCKEE, Calif. – My Hometown Heroes is partnering with the Barracuda Championship for the 2024 Chip for Charity program. From July 18 to 21, supporters can help young adult cancer survivors pursue higher education by purchasing tickets to the Barracuda Championship PGA TOUR Golf Tournament. Half of each ticket purchase will be donated to My Hometown Heroes, and children under 15 get in free with a ticketed adult. Every ticket purchase also enters buyers into a drawing for exciting prizes, including a foursome at Old Greenwood Golf Course.
