Here's something fun for a good cause: Jungle Feast 2024.
Not your typical fundraiser by more than a few hairs, Jungle Feast invites those who wish to support Trout Lake Nature Center and its expansion/education efforts for up-close and personal encounters with wildlife.
The event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Eustis Community Center, 601 Northshore Drive, Eustis.

Florida offers a wide selection of specialty plates you can buy to provide some personal expression to your ride and make some money for charities.
I have the beautiful, recently updated Protect the Panther plate on Ruby, my red Mazda.
The final design for a new plate celebrating The Villages has not been decided, but here's what we know .

🎤 The Leesburg City Commission meets today, Sept. 9, at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall, 501 W. Meadow St. An ordinance amending the city's comprehensive plan for future land use to establish the Sunnyside Estates is scheduled as of this writing; subject to change. More details here.

🎵 Fest it up in downtown Leesburg this weekend: On the second Friday of the month, the city of Leesburg puts on a popular street-fest event known as Discover Leesburg. This Friday, Tre Jones will entertain the crowd. Also, Friday evening, Artist with a Purpose (AWAP) and the Leesburg Center for the Arts are teaming up to present a new monthly downtown arts event called 4th Street Live.
🐑 Pencil this one in for later , pet owners : You don't have to be a Catholic or even a Christian to participate in this annual tradition: Bring your furbaby for a blessing on Friday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. on the lawn in front of the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Dora . All pets will receive a pet goodie bag, and at noon, they will "paws for a Children's Pet Blessing." There will also be an art project and a pet goodie bag for children.
