Dallas Cowboys make blockbuster trade in NFL analyst's bold prediction

The Dallas Cowboys ' 2024 offseason has been less than eventful after the team didn't do much to improve its roster, and the Cowboys have several unanswered questions ahead of the season, with the future of Dak Prescott arguably being the biggest one.

As a result, there is a chance the Cowboys take a step back this year, but it's doubtful things get so bad that they become sellers at the trade deadline. If that happens, one analyst predicts Dallas will make a massive trade.

In an article naming four bold predictions for the 2024 season, Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon has the Cowboys trading Prescott to a contender in need of a quarterback. He mentions the Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks as hypothetical landing spots.

Even Gagnon mentions that the Cowboys falling out of contention that early is not likely to happen (he's right), but he rolls with the bold prediction anyway.

The odds might be similar, but I view the Eagles as the clear-cut favorite in the NFC East. They have too much talent not to bounce back, while Dallas looks primed to regress.

And if that happens, the organization could very well decide it's time to move on from Prescott, who has been part of just two playoff wins and has thrown four interceptions in the team's last two postseason losses.

Quarterbacks rarely move in the middle of seasons, but most of the ingredients are there in this case. Now, if a contender were to suffer a major injury at quarterback, or if a team like Las Vegas or Seattle finds itself in contention in spite of what it has at quarterback, a deadline blockbuster involving Prescott could come to fruition.

Trading Prescott would basically mean that the Cowboys are blowing it up. Granted, they'd still have plenty of talent on the roster, but starting over at quarterback is a big step toward a rebuild.

Whether or not Jerry Jones would have the stomach for that remains to be seen, but it's something he should at least consider if things go south and the Cowboys don't plan on paying Prescott the lucrative, long-term deal he's seeking.
