    Caitlin Clark Breaks Incredible WNBA Record During Fever-Wings

    While the Indiana Fever got off to a slow start against the Dallas Wings on July 17, Caitlin Clark gave the team their first lead in the third quarter.

    While Clark struggled with her signature threes in front of the sold-out crowd at College Park Center, she was on fire went it came to assists. With one incredible pass after the next, the No. 1 overall pick broke her own Fever franchise record of 13 assists early in the fourth quarter, and she didn't stop there.

    Clark went on to record her 17th assist against the Wings, crushing her previous record. She set a new all-time single-game rookie record, passing Ticha Penicheiro, who had 16 in July, 1998.

    With less than 2 minutes in regulation, however, Clark recorded her 19th assist, officially breaking the WNBA single-game record for assists.

    Clark, the NCAA's all-time scorer, has continued improve since entering the WNBA. She entered the matchup against the Wings with 194 assists on the season, which moved her past Sue Bird for the second-most assists by a rookie in WNBA history.

    Clark, who now has 213 assists on the season, is on pace to break Ticha Penicheiro's rookie record of 225 assists.

    The Fever ultimately fell to the Wings 101-93 and enter the Olympic break with an 11-15 record. Next up, the Fever host the Phoenix Mercury at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on August 16.
