One Player Made Huge WNBA All-Star History, And It Wasn’t Caitlin Clark Or Angel Reese

On Saturday night, Dallas Wings star Arike Ogunbowale and Team WNBA defeated Team USA, 116-109, in the 2024 WNBA All-Star game in Phoenix.

Although all eyes were on Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese teaming up for the first time, Ogunbowale stole the show.

Ogunbowale recorded 34 points on 10-of-20 shooting, three rebounds, and six assists, winning her the WNBA All-Star MVP award.

Her 34 points broke the WNBA All-Star record for the most points ever in a single game, passing Seattle Storm star Jewell Loyd's record, who scored 31 points in the 2023 WNBA All-Star game.

What's even more incredible is that Ogunbowale picked up 21 of her 34 points in the third quarter alone.

The 2024 WNBA All-Star game was full of record-breaking performances. Along with Ogunbowale's record, Clark notched the most assists ever by a rookie, and Reese became the only rookie to pick up a double-double.

For the season, Ogunbowale is averaging 22.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists. She helped the Wings defeat Clark and the Indiana Fever in the final WNBA game before the Olympic break.

Ogunbowale played college ball for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from 2015 to 2019. She was selected with the No. 5 pick in the 2019 WNBA draft and has made four All-Star appearances.
