In this edition of the Mayor’s Corner, Mayor Reardon is on location at the Warren O. Page Fire Headquarters. Happy 249th Birthday, America! City Hall, the Senior/Community Center and the Newburyport Public Library will be closed on Thursday, July 4th and Friday, July 5th. The Yard Waste facility will be open on Friday, July 5th. The library will re-open on Saturday, July 6th. Mayor Reardon thanks all who attended the ribbon-cutting at Market Landing Park on Monday, June 17th. After almost 40 years in the making, it was a momentous celebration! Mayor Reardon attended several awards events and celebrations to mark the end of the school year. He would like to congratulate the Newburyport High School Girls’ Lacrosse team for making it to the State Finals. He would also like to acknowledge the recipients of this year’s Molin Awards: Maggie Flaherty, Boyd Hancock and Erin Hobbs! On Tuesday night, the FY’25 budget passed 6-5. There were no cuts recommended. The Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) failed 5-5-1 (recusal). The NFD has been very busy lately. We have a very exciting announcement about a new community facing software program called Community Connect which allows residents to add more information about their homes in the event of an emergency. You can add info on pets, number of residents, and special needs so that the Fire Department has it in advance. This information is securely stored and only used in case of an emergency.
