Visitors to the Iowa State Fair in Davenport, Iowa got to see more than midway rides and funnel cakes when it was discovered that a super rare chick had been born in one of the incubators.

The chick was born with four legs instead of tow, a genetic condition known as polymelia .

Polymelia is when an embryo develops extra limbs due to genetic mutations or developmental anomalies.

WIFR reports, "Gary Kassa, the owner of Anything is Kassable farm just outside of Eldridge, says he’s been hatching chicks at the Mississippi Valley Fair for about 20 years.

“We hatch chicks every day here at the fair about three dozen,” Kassa said. “This morning, I went to the incubator to peel out the chicks, as usual, and this one seemed kind of odd to me .”

The chick was born with four legs. It drew quite the crowd as people flocked to check out something they may never seen again.

Kassa also said that the chick is " doing very well. He’s eating, drinking. I don’t see anything other than the legs – two extra legs – that really is anything different,” he said. The chick will live on Kassa's family farm.

According to Poultry DVM, Most of the time, these birds can live normal healthy lives without negative implications resulting from the defect. Sometimes a veterinarian may remove the extra limbs.

Nature is just so ridiculously cool! We hope this little chick continues to thrive and grow. This is not the only rare animal in the news as of late.

Other Rare Animals That Have Been Born This Year

A precious Spaniel by the name of Ariel who was born with six legs is living her best life with her new family in Wales. When Ariel was 11 weeks old, she was discovered abandoned outside a Pembrokeshire supermarket last October. Ariel had an operation to remove her extra back limbs, which partially fused together to resemble a mermaid's tail, after people raised money for her.

The Humane Society of Central Oregon recently announced that one of their absolutely adorable shelter kittens was adopted into a new home. The little tortoiseshell kitten, named Cinder, was adopted into a family where the daughter is even graduating from veterinary school.  The reason this kitten is so remarkable? Cinder is a male tortoiseshell cat that is also a hermaphrodite.

A kitten that was discovered in a box with his litter mates at a rescue in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee was born with four ears ! They named the little kitten Audio and everyone is in love with him.
