    Shirley Ruth (Cochran) Upchurch

    Shirley Ruth (Cochran) Upchurch, of Dayton, was born on Sept. 2, 1949, and passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the Franklin Health Nursing Home in Franklin, Tenn. after a long illness.

    Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Armeda Corley Cochran and James W. Cochran; her husband, Dennis “Butch” Upchurch; her best friend, Gail Sexton; and her beloved cat, Sissy.

    She is survived by her step-daughter, Cynthia Denise Upchurch Brimm (Nikki); two granddaughters, Bella and Mia Brimm; grandson, Bly Brimm; brother-in-law, Michael Gary Upchurch (Beverley); niece, Kimberly Upchurch Holder; great-niece, Chloe Michelle Holder; and great-nephew, Sean Patrick Holder.

    Shirley was a graduate of Rhea County High School and previously worked for Olan Mills Photography. She retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Tennessee. An avid country music fan, Shirley was a member of most of the country music fan clubs. She loved attending concerts and meeting the entertainers. As a prolific photographer, Shirley enjoyed capturing life’s memorable events.

    The family would like to express their appreciation of the staff at Franklin Health Nursing Home and Williamson Medical Center for their loving care of Shirley over the past several years.

    Interment was at Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton on Friday, April 12, 2024.

    Coulter Garrison Funeral Home of Dayton was in charge of arrangements.
