A big holiday weekend means plenty of ways to celebrate in Volusia-Flagler.
With the July 4th holiday on Thursday this year, the stage is set for a tantalizing, long weekend.

Fourth of July fireworks abound
Obviously, there will be fireworks and festivals galore to celebrate Independence Day.

In Daytona Beach, there will be a special Thursday holiday edition of the weekly Star Spangled Summer Concert Series that will showcase the sounds of the Eagles tribute band Alter Eagles offering homage to one of the nation’s quintessential rock ‘n’ roll acts.
The show starts at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the Daytona Bandshell. It will be followed by fireworks over the beach at 9:45 p.m. It’s free general admission, with a $15 reserved VIP ticket available.

Elsewhere, DeLand will get a head start on the celebration with its annual Firecracker Festival unfolding from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Earl Brown Park, 750 S. Alabama Ave. It offers a kid zone, food trucks and fireworks at dusk. Visit mainstreetdeland.org for details.
Also in West Volusia, there’s the “4th of July All American Blast” from 5-9:15 p.m. Thursday at Dewey O. Boster Sports Complex, 1200 Saxon Blvd., Deltona. In Ormond Beach, there also will be music, food and fireworks at an Independence Day celebration from 8-9:30 p.m. Thursday at Rockefeller Gardens, 25 Riverside Drive, Ormond Beach. Fireworks will start at 9 p.m. Free admission. Visit ormondbeach.org for details.
In Port Orange, there will be a “4th of July Spectacular” with music, food trucks, a kid zone, a classic car show, games and fireworks from 5:30-9 p.m. Thursday at the City Center Municipal Complex, 1000 City Center Circle. It’s also free. Visit port-orange.org for details.
More music at the Bandshell
If you miss the July 4th Bandshell show, not to worry, there’s still a full lineup of weekend music on tap with new editions of the Friday night “Sounds of Summer” series and the Saturday Night “Star Spangled Summer Concert Series” at the historic beachside landmark.
Both shows are free admission, with VIP reserved seating tickets also available for those interested.
On Friday, the “Sounds of Summer” features “U.S. Bee Gees,” a tribute to the music of the Bee Gees. Show time: 7:15 p.m.
On Saturday, the “Star Spangled Summer” show will present the twin bill of “Southern Cross & Bad Moon Rising,” tributes to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Creedence Clearwater Revival, respectively.
That show also starts at 7:15 p.m. and is followed by fireworks over the beach at 9:45 p.m.

Stroll Beach Street at Downtown Daytona Nights
An array of food trucks, local music acts, artists and merchants will be the main attractions at the monthly Downtown Daytona Nights on Friday along Beach Street at Magnolia Avenue in Daytona Beach.
The free, family-friendly event unfolds from 5-9 p.m., with culinary treats from more than a dozen food trucks as well as an art walk and sounds from guest musicians and DJs. It happens on the first Friday of every month, so if you miss this edition, you have another chance.

Sip, stroll in New Smyrna Beach
Along the same lines, the monthly “Sip & Stroll” event offers a chance to sample craft beers or wine and explore the Canal Street Historic District in New Smyrna Beach.
The monthly event, a fixture on first Saturdays, runs from 1-6 p.m.
Tickets are $23.47, plus tax, which includes a self-guided passport for access to more than a dozen restaurants and other participating businesses, drink tickets, a wristband, and a souvenir glass.
Returning participants already equipped with a souvenir glass get $2 off the ticket price when purchased in person.
You can buy tickets day-of-event at the information booth at Christmas Park or online until 5 p.m.
Be advised that ticket purchases at the event are cash only. Participants must be 21 years of age or older, with proof of age required.

In Flagler, more Independence Day revelry
In Flagler County, the cities of Flagler Beach and Palm Coast will collaborate on the United Flagler 4th Community Celebration, a daylong series of events on Thursday.
It starts with a July 4th parade at 10 a.m. along State Road A1A from North 6th Street to South 6th Street in Flagler Beach. The march will be followed by “Music in the Park” from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at Flagler Beach’s Veterans Park.
Later on Thursday, there will be the “Fireworks Over the Runways,” with gates to open at 5 p.m. for a 9 p.m. fireworks show at Flagler Executive Airport, off Fin Way at South Belle Terre Boulevard in Palm Coast. Free admission.
