DeLand drive-by shooting injures man inside home

DeLand police said Sunday they are looking for a suspect or suspects in a drive-by shooting that struck a man in the leg inside a home.

The shooting occurred at 4:57 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of Valleydale Avenue, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicated several shots were fired toward the home by a passing vehicle. One person was shot in the leg and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police are looking for a vehicle described as a maroon sedan.

Investigators believe the drive-by shooting was an isolated incident and that there is no danger to the community.
