Youth Speed Camp grades 3-8 all sports.
Join us for the first Warrior Youth Speed Camp open to Lake Ridge Students in grades 3-8. This is a great opportunity for all students regardless of what sport they may be interested in. All students will need to complete a permission slip prior to participating. The permission slip can be obtained from the athletic department or it can be filled out on the day of participating. Any questions contact Coach Mullins at bmullins@chsnewtech.com. We hope to see many future Warriors in attendance at this great event.

Starbucks will soon be brewing coffee in Schererville, IN with their second location. The popular coffee chain has recently executed a lease at 1902 US Highway 41, immediately adjacent to Basecamp Fitness on the Drive-thru endcap. CPCSC Welcomes Chris Gabriel as Assistant Principal of Col. Wheeler MS
Crown Point Community School Corporation is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Gabriel as the new assistant principal of Colonel Wheeler Middle School. Mr. Gabriel will join the district after leaving Union Center Elementary School, where he served as principal since 2021. Prior to this, he was the principal of Wanatah Public School and also served as assistant principal and athletic director at Kouts Middle/High School. Mr. Gabriel is returning to our district, having previously worked in CPCSC as a technology education teacher at Colonel Wheeler Middle School from 2007-2016. He also coached JV baseball and middle school wrestling. Mr. Gabriel is a graduate of Merrillville High School, earned his teaching degree at Purdue University, and completed his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership at the American College of Education.
Franciscan Health Dyer, Olympia Fields named Bariatric Centers of Excellence by Optum
Franciscan Health Dyer and Franciscan Health Olympia Fields were both recently named Bariatric Centers of Excellence (COE) by Optum. Bariatric departments belonging to the Optum bariatric COE program perform more successful bariatric procedures than many other facilities nearby. The Optum COEs also have fewer complications and readmissions, with 15% lower mortality rates, 16% lower inpatient hospital readmission, 12% lower reoperation rate for bariatric procedures and $4,239 lower average cost per surgical episode.
John Deere to Build Facility in Lowell
LOWELL — John Deere recently invested $7 million in a 234-acre plot, which will be the site of a 1.2 million-square-foot John Deere warehouse/distribution facility at 2105 W. 181st Ave., Lowell. The project is expected to create hundreds of permanent jobs.

Dr. Stephen Schnurr got his first church job when he was still a student in high school in Louisville, Kentucky. Then he went on to complete his undergraduate studies at Duke University in North Carolina. His graduate work was done at Yale University in Connecticut. In 1990, he interviewed for the role of music director at St. Paul Catholic Church in Valparaiso. September of this year will officially make it 34 years since he started his latest church job.

Outdoorsmen flocked to Blythe's Sports Shop in downtown Griffith for 72 years. Now another long-running gun shop in the Region will take the store over. Pelcher Outdoors, which runs Pelchers Shooters Supply at 18149 Henry St. in downtown Lansing, is buying the Blythe's Sports Shop Griffith store, where it plans to open its first Indiana location.
