Vernon, NY – Zapaca (Steeven Genois) captures the $6,500 featured trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (July 5). Zapaca ($3.40) went right to the front and led to the quarter in :27.2. He used a :30.1 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.3. Woodside Gabe (Leon Bailey) came first-up and battled for the lead as they went around the final turn. Zapaca led to three-quarters in 1:26.0.

VERNON — Dame Good Time with driver Scott Zeron rallied late to capture the $300,000 Dr. Harry M. Zweig Memorial 3-year-old Open Trot on Thursday night at Vernon Downs. Big favorite T C I (David Miller) went on a break before the start. Dame Good Time ($36.60) went to the lead from his outside post and led to the quarter in :25.4. Daquiri Hanover (Ake Svanstedt) then took control down the backstretch and led to the half in :55.4. Amazing Catch (Dexter Dunn) came first-up to challenge going around the final turn.
