Do You Know These 4 Upstate New York Baseball Stars? You Should!
There are many legendary baseball players who are buried in the Empire State. Most of these are buried in New York City, Westchester County, or Long Island. I once wrote a book about famous people buried in New York, and traveled to the graves of most of these player. It was quite a revealing journey. For example, perhaps the most visited sports grave in America is that of Babe Ruth. He is buried in Hawthorne, NY (Westchester County) in Gate of Heaven cemetery. Ruth's grave is quite imposing depicting a large statue of Jesus Christ with his arms around two small boys dressed up to play baseball. I have been to Ruth's grave twice. Each time I found the grave covered with trinkets, good luck charms, baseballs, bats and balls, Yankee memorabilia, personal messages, and more. All of which is gathered up and archived by the cemetery. His grave shows signs of having been visited frequently by fans.
2024 Olympics: Which states have the most U.S. Olympians? Where does New York rank?
The United States will have 592 athletes competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. It’s probably not a surprise that California, the most populated state in the country, leads the way. More than 20 percent of the U.S. team is made up of athletes who call The Golden State their home.

Stephen Grippo has certainly had his share of success on the mound donning a South Shore uniform dating back to his time as a 10-year-old, but there was something different — for the better — on Friday. A bit more snarl. If you purchase a product or register...

TOYOTA HS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Tully's Ryan Rauber is headed to outdoor track nationals
TULLY, NY — Ryan Rauber was quite literally born for this. "We would go out on long runs, and I'd try to keep up with them. Ever since I was little, we'd go out on competition runs and just see who can outlast the others," said the Tully High School junior.

Syracuse basketball 5-star recruits being pursued by two-time defending champs UConn
As far as I can tell, Syracuse basketball coaches are prioritizing 2026 five-star prospects Deron Rippey Jr. from New York City and Jordan Smith Jr. from the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Both the 6-foot-2 Rippey, a point guard, and the 6-foot-3 Smith, a shooting guard, hold 'Cuse offers. The Orange...
