Richard Allen, the suspect in the infamous Delphi murder case, has reportedly confessed 60 times since he’s been behind bars.

Indiana prosecutors say Allen, 51, admitted numerous times to killing victims Libby German, 14, and Abby Williams, 13, over the last 22 months. He claims to have killed them with a boxcutter and threw them in a dumpster behind a local CVS where he worked.

In a hearing this week, Indiana State Police Detective Brian Harshman testified Allen has made the confessions mainly to jailhouse phone calls to his wife and mother. The confessions first began in March 2023, as Harshman has reviewed over 150 hours of calls.

The Independent reported Harshman explained that Allen spoke “very specifically” about the details of the crime. A fellow inmate has also come forward saying Allen both confessed and revealed the murder weapon, Indiana State Police Lt. Jerry Holeman testified.

On February 13, 2017, Abby and Libby had gone on a hike at the Monon High Bridge trail in Delphi. Their last movements were captured in a Snapchat photo Libby took on a railroad track at the trail.

Their bodies were found with their necks slit the next day in an area close to the trail.

Investigators found a video on Libby’s cell phone showing a man walking with them on the bridge. In the video, he can be heard saying “Guys, down the hill.”

The case sat cold for five years, until October 2022 when Allen was arrested. He was connected to the case by a bullet found at the crime scene.

Allen maintains his innocence in official pleas, despite the incriminating words. His attorneys offered up new suspects, arguing the crime was a “ritual murder” by four local Odinists, or members of the Norse religion, Odinism.
