If you’re like many of us, you feel just a little bit guilty indulging in a few decadent scoops of ice cream, but at a new ice cream shop set to open in Denham Springs , you can offset that guilt by knowing it’s going to a socially-responsible business.

Set to open in early July, the new Mustard Seed Creamery at 111 N. Range Ave. in downtown Denham Springs is dedicated to supporting locally sourced businesses and responsible business practices. The shop will source ice cream like vanilla bean and Bananas Foster from the New Orleans Ice Cream Company , along with soda for its floats from the nearby Le Chien Brewing Company , according to a report in 225 Magazine . The shop will also serve its ice cream, floats, and small plate dishes using compostable plates, cups, utensils, and straws. Mustard Seed Creamery will also offer drip coffee and wines by the glass. A small section of the shop will offer products that were sourced from developing countries by a Baton Rouge retailer called The Hope Shop .

Owners Tasha and Tim Levert also work in ministry and their Mustard Seed Church will hold services in the creamery on Sunday mornings, starting in August.
