The Colony police rescue driver from burning vehicle after major collision
THE COLONY, Texas — Officers from The Colony Police Department responded to a major collision early Friday morning, rescuing a driver from a burning vehicle.The incident occurred at 1:23 a.m. on July 19, 2024, at 5700 South Colony Boulevard, where officers found a vehicle pinned between two dividing barriers on the South Colony Boulevard overpass. Initial attempts to extinguish the fire were unsuccessful as it kept reigniting, according to a press release from The Colony Police Department.Officers managed to get close enough to the vehicle to use a metal breaching tool to break a window and pull the driver out. The driver was transported to the hospital for injuries related to the collision.One officer was also taken to the hospital for further evaluation for smoke inhalation but is expected to be okay. The other officers were evaluated on the scene and released back to duty.
