Shelley Duvall passed away on Thursday July 11th at her home in Blanco, Texas. The cause of death was complications from diabetes and news of her death was confirmed by her partner Dan Gilroy.

The Nationals are expected to call up Willingham from Triple-A Rochester on Sunday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. A 26-man roster spot opened up Saturday when Washington traded reliever Hunter Harvey to Kansas City in exchange for a minor-league infielder, and Willingham looks set to fill the vacancy in the bullpen. Although Harvey worked as a setup man, Willingham isn't likely to handle high-leverage work considering that he's logged a 4.54 ERA across 39.2 innings for Rochester this season.

The Cubs optioned Bigge to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports. Though right-hander Javier Assad was designated as the 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals after being activated from the injured list earlier in the day, he'll stick around with the Cubs and Bigge will be the odd man out as Chicago reduces its roster to 26 players ahead of Sunday's series finale in St. Louis. After being called up from Triple-A last Sunday, Bigge made three appearances out of the Cubs bullpen, giving up one earned run on one hit and two walks while striking out three over 2.1 innings.

The Royals traded Wallace (oblique) and their Competitive Balance A pick to the Nationals on Saturday in exchange for reliever Hunter Harvey. Wallace has been recovering from a right oblique strain since late May, but he's appeared in seven rehab games with the Royals' Arizona Complex League affiliate. Prior to the injury, the 22-year-old was playing at Double-A Northwest Arkansas, where he slashed .282/.350/.427 with three homers across 140 plate appearances. The third baseman was the 49th overall pick in the 2022 draft.

The Pirates have selected Griffin with the ninth overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft. Griffin, the consensus top prep position player in this year's class, has four loud tools, while his hit tool is more of a question mark. A 6-foot-4, 215-pound righty hitter who plays a good shortstop and an even better center field, Griffin has 70-grade speed, a 70-grade arm and plus power that could tick up even more at his physical peak. He turned 18 in April, so he's on the younger side, and most sluggers who are as tall and as young as Griffin come with some hit tool risk. Projecting prep hit tools is one of the toughest tasks for amateur scouts, so there's not going to be much clarity on whether that's a clear weakness or a non-issue until the Mississippi high schooler gets to full-season ball. He has a very high ceiling as a 30/30 candidate whose defensive utility should keep him in the lineup every day.

Tommy Tanks was one of the most prolific hitters in college baseball since he started as a Freshman for the NC State Wolfpack. After his freshman season with the Wolfpack, White transferred to LSU where he would team up with Paul Skenes, Dylan Crews, Gavin Dugas, Tre Morgan and more to lead LSU to a national championship.
