United Airlines has finally issued a statement regarding the shocking incident involving Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Davis.

Davis went viral recently after he shared on Instagram the "traumatizing" experience he had to go through with his family while on a flight from Denver to Orange County over the weekend. The Denver Broncos legend was reportedly handcuffed by law enforcement authorities after an alleged incident with a flight attendant.

For their part, United Airlines apologized and stated that they are investigating the matter.

“This is clearly not the kind of travel experience we strive to provide, and we have reached out to Mr. Davis’s team to apologize. We have removed the flight attendant from duty while we closely review this matter," United Airlines said in a statement to KDVR (via KTLA).

According to Davis, during the flight, his son asked the flight attendant for a cup of ice. When the flight attendant either "didn't hear or ignored" the request, the two-time Super Bowl champion proceeded to tap the flight attendant on the shoulder.

However, that move sparked an unexpected reaction from the flight attendant, who proceeded to shout "don't hit me" before running to the front of the plane, Davis alleged.

When the flight arrived in Orange County, Davis claimed that six FBI and law enforcement agents entered the plane and proceeded to put him in handcuffs without any explanation.

Davis called it an embarrassing and humiliating moment, with passengers even recording it as he was "paraded off the plane in handcuffs." During the questioning, Davis stated that the agents determined the flight attendant was "inaccurate in his accusations."

The one-time Super Bowl MVP has said that he's contemplating taking legal action over the incident. It's unknown whether his team has already been in contact with United Airlines, but more updates are expected to come as the airline investigates the matter.
