    Driver flees after pedestrian killed on I-225

    DENVER ( KDVR ) — Denver police are looking for the driver who allegedly hit and killed a pedestrian on Interstate 225.

    On Tuesday at 2:29 a.m., the Denver Police Department said a driver was traveling southbound on I-225 when they allegedly hit a pedestrian who was in the roadway. It is unclear why the pedestrian was on the interstate.

    Police said the pedestrian died as a result of their injuries.

    The driver was reportedly in a semitruck and fled the scene without stopping.

    As a result of the crash, southbound I-225 was closed at Yosemite Street near the Cherry Creek Reservoir for over two hours.

    In initial reports, the Denver Police Department said the motorist involved had stayed on the scene . FOX31 reached out and learned that there were likely multiple vehicles that hit the pedestrian.

    Denver police are now looking for information on the driver or the suspected vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
