    Son charged with attempted murder after attacking his mother: Sheriff

    LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Denver man was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

    Deputies were called near the 700 block of North Little Egypt Road in Denver on July 19 after the victim’s son called 911 to report he attacked his mother.

    When deputies arrived on the scene, they took the victim’s son into custody.

    Lincoln County EMS quickly aided the victim and transported her to the hospital. The 77-year-old woman was hospitalized with severe head and bodily injuries. She is currently in critical condition.

    According to detectives, the son of the victim admitted to becoming upset with his mother and beat her.

    Lynard Edward Hunter, 58, was charged with attempted first-degree murder. He is being held at the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center with no bond.
