Megatron may be a villain in the Transformers franchise, but Calvin Johnson, whose nickname was Megatron, was beloved in his career with the Detroit Lions. Now, he will be immortalized forever at Ford Field.

The Lions announced Monday that the team will induct Johnson into the team's ring of honor, which is called the Pride of the Lions.

Shortly after hearing the announcement, Johnson appeared on NFL Network's "Up and Adams." During the segment, Johnson fought back tears while talking about the honor.

"It's a tear-jerker. I don't like surprises for that reason, man. You might catch me in my emotions, and they definitely did," Johnson said. "Definitely shed a tear because I didn't see it coming. I wasn't expecting it, and it's just an honor to be celebrated by my peers and by the city of Detroit."

The four-time All-Pro continued to fight back tears during the segment after NFL Network aired a pre-recorded statement from one of Johnson's former teammates, Nate Burleson, who congratulated Johnson for the honor.

"Why do you all keep doing this to me?" Johnson said while rubbing his eye after watching the video from Burleson. "I told you that I don't like surprises."

Johnson made first-team All-Pro three straight seasons from 2011-13. He also made second-team All-Pro in 2010 and six consecutive Pro Bowls from 2010-15 during his nine-year NFL career.

In 2011 and 2012, Johnson led the NFL in receiving yards. His 1,964 receiving yards during 2012 broke Jerry Rice's record for the most in a single NFL season .

In addition to his honor with the Lions, Johnson has received induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
