    Detroit man pleads guilty, sentenced for role in PA drug operation

    ( WJET/WFXP )– A Detroit man has been sentenced to just under a decade in prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from his role in a large drug operation in western Pennsylvania.

    United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced Friday that 33-year-old Andrew Brent Steel will spend the next nine years in prison followed by four years of supervised release.

    Steel was part of a drug operation in Beaver County, PA and surrounding areas where investigators seized approximately 660 grams of narcotics as part of a joint investigation by federal, state, and local law enforcement.

    During the investigation, police made several controlled purchases from different runners operating out of Ambridge or New Brighton, PA apartments along with intercepting shipments between there and Detroit.

    In total, law enforcement seized 130 grams of acetyl fentanyl, 330 grams of a fentanyl and heroin mixture, and 200 grams of crack cocaine, Steel was also in possession of the phone used to conduct drug sales along with controlled purchases when arrested.
