DETROIT (WWJ) — Police are searching for suspects after a pair of freeway shootings last weekend, including one that happened following what officials say was a “minor crash” that led to road rage on Detroit's northwest side.

That happened around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20, according to Michigan State Police, when they got a 911 call from a driver reporting the incident after they pulled over to a gas station in Highland Park.

The driver told police they were on 7 Mile Road near the Lodge Freeway when they were involved in a minor crash with a silver car.

Both drivers “exchanged words” and then "became involved in a road rage" incident that carried over onto the freeway.

While the drivers were on the Lodge, the driver of the silver car allegedly shot at the victim.

MSP officials say none of the shots hit the victim or their car, and there were no reported injuries.

That incident came hours after another man told police he was shot at while driving on I-75.

Around 1 a.m. that morning the man was driving on northbound I-75 near Holbrook when the driver of a blue pickup truck pulled up alongside him and fired one shot before driving away.

The bullet hit the victim’s car, but there were no reported injuries. The motive in the I-75 sooting has not been determined.

Authorities are still investigating both incidents and are asking anyone who knows something about either shooting to call 855-MICH-TIP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

“These are two examples of suspects putting Michiganders at risk by not being able to de-escalate over something as simple as driving.” MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw said.
