3 Detroit Lions activated off injured lists on Day 1 of training camp

After placing several players on injured lists ahead of the start of training camp on Wednesday, the Detroit Lions have now activated three of them.

According to Pride of Detroit's Jeremy Reisman , the Lions activated defensive back Brian Branch and edge rusher Marcus Davenport off the active/physically unable to perform list, and rookie offensive tackle Giovanni Manu off the active/non-football injury list.

Manu was the biggest surprise of the group to land on an injured list after he took part in the offseason program. However, clearly it was nothing to be concerned about and he's good to go for training camp.

Branch and Davenport both spent the spring working their way back from injury, so their placement on the PUP list was pretty much expected. Head coach Dan Campbell indicated earlier in the day that both were close to returning.

“You’ll see Davenport out there today, you’ll see Branch out there today in walkthrough, so these guys are slowly going,” Campbell said. “I think Davenport is going to be a little quicker than Branch is, but they’ll both be out there in some capacity, which is a good sign. So, no setbacks, we’re moving right along.”

The Lions will have practices from Wednesday through Saturday before an off day on Sunday. Then, the team will throw on the pads for the first time on Monday, Campbell revealed earlier in the day.
