1 dead after crash near Dexter

DEXTER, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico State Police are investigating a crash that killed a teenager in Dexter. Police said the crash happened on Sunday just before 7 p.m. at an intersection of Highway 285 between Dexter and Roswell.

They said a car driven by a 16-year-old with 18-year-old Angela Andrews as the passenger crossed the road before it was safe to do so and was hit by another car. The driver and Andrews were severely injured and flown to an El Paso hospital. Andrews later died.

Three people in the other car were also injured and taken to a local hospital. Their current conditions are not known.
