4 North Carolina Towns Rank Among The ‘Most Dangerous’ In The State

Dangerous towns evoke fear and caution, where crime rates soar and safety is compromised. From rampant gang activity to high rates of violence, these towns instill a sense of unease among residents and visitors alike. Despite efforts to combat crime, the shadow of danger looms over these communities, perpetuating insecurity.

According to studies, these are 4 of the most dangerous towns in North Carolina:

    Lumberton

Not only is Lumberton ranked among the most dangerous cities in North Carolina, but it also ranks among the most dangerous places nationwide.

The likelihood of becoming a victim is 1 in 27 for citizens.
Regarding hazards, the city is 435% more than any other location in the state.
There are 122 property offenses and 20 violent crimes for every 1,000 individuals.

    About Lumberton

The US state of North Carolina's Robeson County is home to the city of Lumberton. Its population was 19,025 in 2020. The government of Robeson County is headquartered there.

Situated on the Lumber River, Lumberton is a town in the Inner Banks region of southern North Carolina. John Willis, an officer in the American Revolution, created it in 1787. The Navy used this location to ship lumber, which was then transported downriver to Georgetown, South Carolina. The town expanded most during and after World War II.

    Oxford

One would expect that residents of a town with less than 9,000 would be more cordial with one another.
Nearly 500 crimes in Oxford were reported in a single year.
The vast majority of those offenses were nonviolent ones, which is a plus for those figures.
The likelihood of a property crime victimizing a local is one in twenty-one.
Additionally, their odds of encountering personal violence are 1 in 129.

    About Oxford

As of the 2020 census, Oxford, a town in Granville County, North Carolina, was home to 8,628 people. Granville County's county seat is located there.
The town's history began in 1761 when Samuel Benton, a local politician, constructed a plantation house named "Oxford." The legislature established Granville County's seat in the vicinity of his farm. Not until 1816 was the town incorporated.

    Pineville

You don't come across a city with presidential ties very often. It just so happens that former President Polk was born in Pineville. Regretfully, a location cannot be kept secure by a legacy alone. Pineville is the state leader in terms of property damage. There is a 1 in 8 risk that residents' property will be tampered with.

    About Pineville

Pineville is a town in the suburbs located in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, in the country's southernmost region.

Pineville gained notoriety as a hub for mule trade during the Charlotte "gold rush." "Pineville" was known as "Morrow's Turnout" at the time. Situated at the confluence of two principal Native American trade routes, the area boasted extensive meadows where the animals used for transportation and trade could be "turned out" to pasture.

    Whiteville

Whiteville has a long history, but there appear to be a lot of issues here.
A tad excessive for a town of only five thousand people. Whiteville ranks third in terms of violent crimes and second in terms of property crimes in the state.

The troubles are attributed by local officials to a shortage of jobs and growing expenses in the community.

    About Whiteville

North Carolina's Columbus County is home to the American city of Whiteville. 5,394 people were counted in the 2010 census. As the county seat, it is the most populous city in Columbus County.
In 1808, Columbus County was established. James B. White's land was used to plant a community in 1810 to erect government structures and a county seat.

White's Crossing was the community's original name before it was founded in 1832 under its current name. Since 1821, there has been a post office in Whiteville. At some point in the later phases of the American Civil War, Union armies ransacked the town.
