The officers of the Pinellas Sherriff’s Office in Florida are being hailed heroes after they rushed to rescue a dog from a heated car. The owners locked the canine in the vehicle for about 30-35 minutes on a hot day. Reports state that the temperature inside the car rose to 120 degrees. The authorities had to break the heated car’s window to rescue the dog from the life-threatening situation.

Leaving a dog unattended in a locked vehicle for a long time is never advisable. The internal temperature can rise rapidly within a short time, causing them to suffer serious issues like heat stroke. Pet owners should prioritize their furry friend’s safety and look for alternatives. If companion animals can’t be brought along, it is best to leave them at home, where they can stay cool with air conditioning and water.

The Sheriff’s Department recently shared a video on Instagram showing them rescuing a small pup trapped inside a car. The video, captured on a bodycam, shows they rushed to the canine’s rescue after a concerned passerby informed them about it.

One of the officers broke the window and opened the locked car while making sure the shattered glass didn’t hurt the pet. The pup showed hostility towards strangers at first, but the officer was able to calm it down. He carefully lifted the dog and took it out. He also gave the puppy some water to drink and cool down.

According to People Magazine , they also urged people not to do the same as it can cost their beloved pet their life. The message further mentions that the vehicle can heat up to about 20 degrees in just 10 minutes. So, it is advisable not to leave one’s furry companion or child unmonitored in a locked vehicle.
