    Fireworks will light up Delaware next week

    A number of fireworks shows are scheduled in the area next week to celebrate the Fourth of July. They include:

    • On Sunday, Bally’s Dover will host a display beginning between 9-9:30 p.m. Food trucks will be open by 4, and there will be Bally’s giveaways from 4-9. Guests are welcome to bring blankets and chairs.
    • A fireworks display in Dover is planned for July 4 at around 9:15 p.m. Spectators can watch from Legislative Mall. In addition, a flyover from Dover Air Force Base is scheduled between 8:15-9:15. Earlier in the evening, a parade organized by American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2 starts at 6 from Hazel Street, heads south on State Street and ends at Water Street. The U.S. Army Marching Band will be featured.
    • A fireworks show in Smyrna begins at dusk July 4. The production will be launched from the James T. Vaughn Sr. Little League Park on Duck Creek Parkway. Parking will be available at Smyrna High and Smyrna Middle schools. Also that day, a parade will be held in Clayton, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Main Street.
    • In Laurel on July 4, the town’s 30th annual Independence Day celebration will take place at Janosik Park at 2 p.m., with food and other vendors, a car show, stage entertainment and a parade at 7. The fireworks display will be staged after dusk.
    • The annual Middletown fireworks show is set for July 4, starting between 9-9:30 p.m. Silver Lake Park will open at 6 for viewing, but no backpacks, pets, bikes, skateboards or disguises will be allowed in the park. The rain date is July 5.
    • Rehoboth Beach’s fireworks display, visible along the beach and boardwalk, will be July 6. The show will launch around 9:30 p.m., weather permitting, from the beach around Brooklyn Avenue. The Funsters will perform free concerts at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand before and after the fireworks. Information on traffic control and road closures is available at cityofrehoboth.com .
