Police surround Rensselaer home in ‘swatting’ incident
Rensselaer Police surrounded a home on Wednesday for what they thought was a person who shot his family, but actually was a false “swatting” call. Officers from multiple police agencies responded to a residence on the 2000 block of 10th Street around 9:45 p.m. for a report of a person who had barricaded himself in his residence after a shooting, Rensselaer Police said.
Four arrested in Albany for illegal possession of firearms, some stolen
ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) — The City of Albany has witnessed 4 illegal gun arrests over the past four days. Four Albany men face felony firearm possession charges. On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the sheriff arrested 57-year-old James A. Cooke in the area of Robin St. and Orange St. for illegally possessing a loaded Ruger .40 caliber semi-automatic firearm which had also been reported stolen out of Charlotte, N.C.

Traffic stop leads to illegal gun possession arrest in Albany
On Monday, patrols from the Albany County Sheriff's Office pulled a car over near Central Avenue and Quail Street after witnessing a traffic observation. Deputies say an investigation led to the finding of a loaded Hi-Point 9mm semi-automatic firearm that he didn't have the right to possess. Deputies also say Mott was driving while impaired by drugs.

Deputies in Saratoga County were called at around 9 p.m. Sunday, June 30, for shots fired at a residence in the town of Providence located on Centerline Road. Sheriff’s officials said an investigation found that 34-year-old Ethan Chase, who is homeless, forced his way into the home of his father, 65-year-old Earl Chase. Another truck has struck the Glenridge Road bridge in Glenville. The crash happened around 3:11 p.m. on Tuesday. Glenville Police said a 2019 Freightliner was heading east on Glenridge Road.
