NC-147 North lanes at Swift Avenue reopen after death investigation, Durham police say

NC-147 Northbound at Swift Avenue was shut down Saturday morning because of a death investigation, according to the Durham Police Department.

All lanes have reopened after being closed for hours.

Before 2:30 a.m., officers responded to a crisis call on NC-147 Northbound at Swift Avenue. They found a dead man, who has yet to be identified.

According to DPD, he was last seen walking on Swift Avenue before he was found deceased on NC-147. The cause of death has not been determined yet.

There was also a police presence Saturday morning at the intersection of West Main Street, Swift Avenue and Broad Street. This is near Duke East Campus. DPD has confirmed both scenes are connected.

Police said more information will be released later.
