Illinois man who was killed in fireworks accident has been identified
The LaSalle County coroner has identified the man killed early Friday morning after a fireworks accident north of Ottawa and LaSalle. Chance W. Ruger, 25, died at OSF HealthCare St. Elizabeth Medical Center after he sustained injuries from fireworks at a home at 3073 East 12th Street in rural Wallace Township. DEKALB COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) - A Rockford man faces charges after reportedly crashing a stolen car in DeKalb County. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said they were called around 4:30 p.m. Sunday for a single-car crash around Genoa Road and Pierce Road. They believe Patrick McBridge III, 18, fled the scene of the crash.

Texas Couple Homeless After Truck/Camper Fire Saturday Near Ottawa
You hear of vehicle fires, but, rarely, do you hear the story of the owners. On Saturday, a Texas couple lost their only home, a truck and camper, to a fire on westbound Interstate 80 between Utica and Ottawa. Wallace Fire Chief Chris Backos says they were summoned at about 12:45 Saturday afternoon to I-80 along with the Utica Fire Department. Upon their arrival, firefighters found the truck engulfed. It resulted in both vehicles destroyed and a $250,000 loss. No one, including pets were hurt and firefighters saved some belongings.
