EASLEY - Dewight Crowley is the new owner of DH Tiny Homes and they had a special ribbon cutting last week in Easley. They are located at 319 Gentry Memorial Highway like you are driving towards Pickens.

The hours they are open are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Crowley has got a vision of DH Tiny Homes for the future, too.

“The only purpose of this is to raise money to develop tiny homes and tiny-home villages for homeless folks,” said Crowley, the owner of DH Tiny Homes. “And when I say homeless, I am not necessarily talking about the drug addict or alcoholic. I’m talking about people who are finding themselves financially unable to do it. Myself - I’m facing 60 years old in a month or two - and I can’t work like I used to. I can’t make money like I used to. So, I sympathize a lot with a lot of those folks on SSI or disability of some sort, or social security of some sort. They just can’t make enough money to do it.

Crowley said they will have appliances and furniture upstairs. Then next month, they will start building the tiny homes.

“I’m having the homeless folks actually help me build them and run the thrift store,” he said. “A community kitchen is the next step, so that we can provide food for the community. It doesn’t matter if you are homeless or not - anyone can come up and eat. I’m not looking for a certain group of people. I’m looking for anyone who needs help.”

Crowley has had his share of tough times and can relate through ones going through tough times.

Added Crowley, “Most of the stuff is donated (to sell). I will buy in certain situations, but I don’t buy individual stuff.”
