EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – Illinois State Police completed a three-day operation in East St. Louis and neighboring communities last week that led to 15 arrests and 12 weapons recovered.
ISP described the operation as a “violent crime suppression” effort from June 20-22 in St. Clair and Madison counties.
ISP reports that the operation “utilized intelligence and technology to target known high crime areas, violent offenders, and structured criminal groups.”
Renowned STL chef leaving Missouri over political climate The operation led to 33 criminal charges, 19 which were classified as felonies and 22 which were firearm-related offenses. Authorities also seized 28 grams of controlled substances.
ISP says there were notable arrests on each day of the operation.
On June 20, troopers attempted a traffic stop on a stolen Hyundai. The driver fled and the vehicle was later found in Cahokia Heights. Three suspects were taken into custody, and two firearms were recovered, including one that was stolen.

ISP says more than 25 officers from around the state helped with the operation.
