The Notre Dame ‘Fighting Irish’ have received praise for a new short-documentary posted to their social media, looking at their role in the 2023 Aer Lingus Classic as the home team against the Navy Midshipmen.

The video titled ‘The Irish Are Home’ was posted on July 22, accumulating thousands of views within the first day. It gives viewers a special behind the scenes look into the planning and execution of the game between the two high performing college football teams.

In the caption of the video, the Fighting Irish wrote: “Taking a home game to Ireland was no small feat and the results were nothing short of spectacular.”

The team was warmly welcomed at the Aviva Stadium in August of last year. The Irish fans felt a special connection with the team that got their name from the Irish soldiers fighting in the American Civil War. Irishman Reverend William Corby, who served as the Irish Brigade's chaplain, went on to become the school's third president, allegedly earning the team its nickname.

Their official website also states that the team shares the "Irish qualities of grit, determination and tenacity."
