Paris Police Report For Monday, August 26

Friday afternoon at 4:23, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 3200 block of S. Church Street for speeding in the school zone. The driver fled, leading officers through the city limits and then onto Highway 271 N. toward Powderly. A Lamar County Deputy utilized “Spike Strips,” and the driver fled on foot. They took him into custody in a wooded area of Powderly. Officers located a package containing Cocaine where the suspect had fled. The suspect was Carlos Ronnel Austin, 42, possibly under the influence of alcohol, and had open containers in his vehicle. They charged Austin with Driving While Intoxicated, Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, and manufacturing or Delivery of a Controlled Substance over four grams, both felonies. They processed him without further incident.
Officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of Clarksville Friday for a disturbance. The officers met with Vicente Manzo Hernandez, 29, who had just returned to the residence. Hernandez was driving a vehicle that was reported stolen on the previous date. The 2015 Cadillac belonged to an acquaintance of the suspect, who had called and said the suspect had a handgun and she was afraid he was going to harm her. They observed Hernandez under the influence of some narcotics based on physiological appearances. A search of the recovered stolen vehicle revealed a powder substance in the passenger compartment. The substance was tested and found to contain Fentanyl. Hernandez was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a felony.
On Saturday, police arrested Carson Tyler Thomson, 23. They charged him with Indecency with a Child after receiving evidence that he had engaged in prohibited contact with a child under 14 years of age. The investigation is open, and they may seek further charges. Due to the nature of the case, no additional information is available.
Officers worked a series of disturbance calls on Saturday in the 1300 block of 8th NE, “Booker T. Washington Homes.” They received information that the suspect, Jazztavion Alexander Dayquaw Fuller, 28, had gone to an apartment, entered without permission, and assaulted a family member by striking them with his fist and kicking them. Fuller left the scene on the first occurrence, and they could not locate him. Officers continued to respond to incidents between the victim and the suspect. They found the suspect back at the location on 8th NE, where he attempted to force entry into the apartment. Officers placed him under arrest for Burglary of a Habitation due to his entry without permission and assaulting the victim. Witnesses reported other misdemeanor crimes, which could result in further charges from this continuing incident.
On Saturday, police arrested Jeremy Lee Ricks, 32, on a charge of Sexual Assault of a Child under 17 years of age. They arrested Ricks without incident. Since the case is still under investigation, police will not release further information.
Officers arrested Migual Angel Roa, 36, Saturday after stopping him for a traffic violation in the 1900 block of Pine Bluff. Roa was found to be intoxicated. He failed a Field Sobriety Test, had an open alcoholic beverage container in his vehicle, and admitted he was drinking. Roa was arrested for DWI and taken to PRMC for a blood draw. Officers later found that Roa had two previous convictions for DWI. He was charged with Felony DWI and booked without incident.
Officers arrested Randall Lynn Cryer, 46, on Saturday after locating him in the 1800 block of Bonham St. Cryer, who was wanted on an offense of Theft of Property under $2,500.00, with two or more previous arrests for Theft. Cryer’s arrest originated from an incident on July 29, 2024, when he entered a local jewelry retailer and stole two rings valued at approximately $1,000.00. Cryer was identified, and a warrant had been sought for his arrest. They processed him without incident.
On Sunday, officers contacted Fredrick Terrell Washington, 34, in the 10-block of NE 25 after hearing a disturbance in the area. They observed Washington pulling a white baggie from his pocket. Officers detained him, and the baggies contained Cocaine. Washington was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and booked without incident.
Officers arrested Vince Eric Pesina, 32, on Sunday in the 900 block of W. Shiloh. Pesina was in the area, and police performed a random security check. Pesina claimed to have marijuana on his person, which was methamphetamine. Pesina then fled on foot. During the arrest, Pesina resisted officers’ attempts to handcuff him by physically struggling and attempting to prevent the officer from getting his hands behind his back. They charged him with Possession of Narcotics, Evading Arrest on Foot, and Resisting Arrest.
On Sunday, officers responded to a report about a firearm theft. The victim was in the process of selling a firearm to an individual in the Wade’s Park area. They presented the firearm to the subject, who then loaded it and took the gun without paying for it. The suspect then left on foot. Officers made contact with the suspect’s family and recovered the firearm. The case remains under investigation.
Over the weekend ending Sunday, August 25, officers made 20 traffic stops, arrested 15 adults, and answered 185 calls for service.
